How I Escaped Ritualist Who Pretended To Be A Commercial Bus Driver - Precious Adebayo
A 30-year-old woman, Precious Adebayo, yesterday, narrated how she escaped from a suspected ritualist, Taiwo Balogun, who disguised as a commercial bus driver.
Precious told Vanguard that at about 8 p.m. on June 5, 2013, she boarded a commercial bus at Iyana Orile bus stop in Orile Agege Local Council Development Area, LCDA.
According to her, “it was raining at the time. The bus driver (Balogun) was alone in the bus when I flagged him down and told him I was going to Iyana Ipaja.
“He stopped, picked me and sped off. On getting to Mobil petrol station on Old Ipaja road, just before the Lagos State exams board office, beside NYSC camp, he told me that because of the heavy traffic at the Iyana Ipaja under bridge, he wanted to go through some inner streets through Orile Agege LCDA office at Arigbanla. He said he would come out close to Iyana Ipaja through Aboru junction and I agreed.”
Precious said she became apprehensive when it took the driver several minutes navigating through inner streets without emerging anywhere.
According to her, “I complained that I was afraid as I no longer understood where we were and where the driver was heading to. I, therefore, told him to drop me so that I could find my way out to Iyana Ipaja bus stop.
“But he reassured me that we would soon emerge at the expressway where I will disembark. Shortly after this, the driver suddenly stopped in a dark corner and told me that he wanted to pick up something.
“He then came down, entered the vehicle from behind and grabbed me on the throat in a bid to choke me. I struggled to free myself but he held me tightly. He hit my face, head and nose with a wheel spanner and inflicted grievous injuries on my face and head.”
Precious said the suspected ritualist attempted to slit her throat and cut off her breast, saying: “He used knife in trying to cut my neck but did not succeed. He even tried to cut my breast, but God rescued me. This happened at Canal, near Pleasure, after Sawmill.”
Vanguard gathered that luck ran out on the suspect when his vehicle failed to start. And within that time Precious regained some strength, pushed open the bus door and screamed for help, which attracted people in the neighborhood. When the driver noticed that people were coming towards them, he abandoned his bus and Precious.
However, the matter was reported to a police team at Iyana Ipaja under bridge who then radioed Elere police station, Agege. Officers from Elere Police Station then took Precious to the scene of the crime in the night and people in the neighborhood deflated the four tires of the bus.
Balogun was apprehended around 1:00 am the following morning, as he came back to stealthily remove his bus (unknown to him that the case had been reported to the police).

We’re going after corrupt governors, says Goodluck Jonathan
The Federal Government has stated its resolve to go after corrupt governors.
Speaking at the launch of the book “Reforming the unreformable, lessons from Nigeria” written by Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala in Abuja yesterday, President Goodluck Jonathan said the administration was going after governors “who committed various economic crimes and corrupt practices with impunity”.
He said: “Government is taking legal measures to ensure that those who defraud the government under the petroleum subsidy scheme are made to return the money and punished.”
Jonathan, who was represented by Vice-President Namadi Sambo, said: “We will continue to diversify the economy to create jobs and wealth.
“This administration is not only committed to reform but is also building on some of the reform measures initiated by its predecessors, specifically by consolidating the micro-economic reforms and going further on structural reforms to create jobs.”
Former Commonwealth Secretary-General Emeka Anyaoku called for a major restructuring of Nigeria’s governance architecture.
He said: “The present structure we have will arrest the destructive competition for the control of power at the centre, while we sustain the largely non-viable states which has become the custom and share the national cake from the centre.
“I don’t believe that we can succeed in reducing significantly the level of recurrent expenditure, which at the moment is averaging 74 per cent.
“When you look around the world and particularly, you look around developing countries that started at the same stage as we did, you will find that their recurrent expenditure is less than what we have been spending.
“ Because what we have been spending on recurrent budget has left us and continues to leave us with too little for capital development, which we need.”
“Given the required political space and the backing of the president and National Assembly, we will reap the benefit of reform and the lessons learnt from Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala’s book.”

Beyonce wears 'Obama' earrings(PHOTOS)
For a sunset dinner with hubby Jay-Z in New York this weekend, Beyonce wore gold hoop earrings with the word "Obama" spelled out: the hoop itself made the "O" with a "BAMA" charm dangling from the top. The earrings, Glamour pointed out, are by jewelry designer Erika Peña as part of her Obama Collection, which includes the baubles in both silver and gold.
The best part is the gold pair Bey wore are only $32, which probably makes them the cheapest jewelry item she owns.
Did i hear someone say Tonko Dike should wear 'ATIKU' earrings?....hehehe

Madonna Booed At New Orleans Concert For Telling Audience To “Vote For Obama”
The American singer is making sure to leave each concert with a (not-so-great) memory
.
After recently taking a spill while on stage in Dallas, the controversial singer drew some boos from the crowd in New Orleans, America last night after she began praising President Barack Obama.
"Who's
registered to vote," she asked concertgoers, and then followed with, "I
don't care who you vote for as long as you vote for Obama."
Madonna says calling Obama a "black Muslim" was supposed to be ironic
After the crowd took issue with her remarks—in the form of
boos—the Material Girl went on to say, "Seriously, I don't care who you
vote for. Do not take this privilege for granted. Go vote."
Last time Madonna mentioned Obama, and made headlines about it, was when she told a crowd
in Washington D.C., "So, you all better vote for f--kin' Obama, OK? For
better or for worse, all right, we have a black Muslim in the White
House!"
This babe can talk o!

Tonke Dike rates her songs perfect
What ever doesn't kill you, only makes you stronger. Tonto Dikeh sounded as strong as ever in her interview with Stella Dimokokorkus. Read the interview below.
What prompted you into singing?
I love music and I wanted to do my own thing, to contribute my own music
.
You got monstrous negative response to both singles. How did feel with all the attacks?
I listened to my songs over and over again and I told myself I did well. In all I see only the positivity in it,I made History. Peoples opinion of how my music was has further strengthened my belief that dreams die when you let the next man's opinion get to you and I am using now to pass a message to everyone out there, if you can just do it. Don't let anyone's opinion kill whatever dream you have or try to stop you from taking the next step.
You tweeted that you were not giving up. Does that mean you will become actively involved in music?
I love my acting career and I don't see myself jumping into full time music. I am however shooting the musical video of my songs,I will not let the hating stop me.
You released your song on Wednesday October 17, 2012 and two days later despite the negativity your song had hit 5.2 million download on the internet. How do you feel?
The most unanticipated and hated song became the most talked about, most controversial, most downloaded and of course the most listened song.I feel great Stella, no regrets.!
We look forward to the musical videos.till then I am sure comedians will soon add. Your song jokes to their shows.
Hopefully. Thank you and here's a loud shout out and thank you to everyone who stood up for me.
